Job description – Registered Dental Hygienist:

Asante Dental Centre strives to provide exceptional patient care by providing a comfortable and relaxing dental environment with a friendly dental team supported by high-technology products to help improve patient experiences and provide an enhanced standard of dental care.

As an RDH at Asante Dental Centre, your duties will include:

  • Managing patients from check-in to check-out
  • Reviewing and updating health history with patients, taking blood pressure measurements as required, and documenting patient concerns for the doctor to review
  • Explaining procedures that will be done and answering any questions that the patient may have regarding oral hygiene
  • Showing before and after photos and patient education videos as required
  • Being familiar with and able to explain services to patients, e.g., Digital x-rays, intraoral camera, VELscope, Invisalign, bleaching, etc
  • Independently performing clinical procedures, including:
    • Taking and mounting digital intraoral and panoramic x-rays accurately
    • Providing scaling, root planing, and other treatments within the scope of training.
    • Provide anaesthesia as needed for hygiene treatments.
    • Providing each patient with periodontal evaluation and customized home care instruction
    • Polishing and fluoride treatments
    • Intraoral scanning
  • Completing documentation of current day’s treatment including Akitu One Charting
  • Chair side booking of patients for subsequent hygiene visits
  • Complete responsibility for the tear down and set up of treatment rooms before and after every patient, including disinfection of non-sterilizable products or surfaces in the rooms.
  • Handling all sterilization procedures, including the use of barriers as needed
  • Providing patients with pamphlets and discussing dental treatment
  • Asking patients for referrals and thanking them for choosing our office
  • Making sure that the treatment rooms are clean and everything is put away before leaving for the evening
  • Being able to work independently as a team member with limited direction and supervision
  • Managing hygiene supplies and asking CDA to order as needed
