Porcelain Veneers in Vancouver

At Asante Dental Centre we know the embarrassment and frustration that comes with having stained, discolored, worn, chipped, or misaligned teeth. That is why we are proud to offer our patients the option of porcelain veneers.

A more permanent and durable solution than composite veneers, porcelain veneers are the perfect solution for those patients looking for longer lasting cosmetic alternative.

A wafer thin shell of porcelain that is bonded directly onto the front side enamel of the tooth, porcelain veneers are used to make a cosmetic improvement in the shape or appearance of the tooth. They are custom crafted in a dental laboratory from moulds taken from your teeth, and are permanently attached to the tooth with resin cement.

Due to their glass-like nature and translucency, porcelain veneers have a great advantage over other types of dental bonding in that when they are bonded onto the tooth’s surface they closely mimic the light handling characteristics of regular enamel, giving the veneer a very realistic appearance complete with a sense of depth to the tooth.

Porcelain veneers, unlike composites filling material used in bonding, are highly resist to staining and discoloring, and will not pick up permanent staining due to their smooth and impervious surface. With proper care, porcelain veneers will normally last for years.

Porcelain veneers may not be appropriate for individuals with unhealthy or weakened teeth, those with decay, fractures, or large dental fillings, or who are lacking adequate tooth enamel. They are also inappropriate for patients who clench and/or grind their teeth as those actions can be detrimental to the veneers, causing cracking or chipping. In these cases, porcelain crowns may be a more suitable option.
